a novel
by Donavan Hall
Alexei and Katya live together in Paris. They are poor and in love. Alexei, a Romanian from Arad, is a writer who works as an assistant baker in a boulangerie owned by Carlos, a large man originally from Lille who drinks cases of Jenlain. Katya, from the Czech Republic, is a painter who works as a waitress in a café. Their lives change one day when Bertrand, a patron of the café where Katya works, offers a large sum of money for "Untitled No. 5", one of Katya's paintings.
